SPORTS MASSAGE

SPORTS MASSAGE CLINIC NOW ON A TUESDAY

What is Sports Massage? “Manual Therapy encompasses the treatment of health ailments through 'hands-on', physical intervention.“

Sports massage is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. There are three contexts in which sports massage can be useful to an athlete: pre-event, post-event, and injury treatment.

A form of massage therapy designed for athletes. It's more vigorous than a Swedish Massage.

The prime purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body's soft tissues during exercise.

A deep tissue massage - often around the joints - for treating specific muscle groups.

The sports massage is a deep muscle tissue massage using oil and rapid movements, particularly of the forearm, elbow and wrist. This massage is for professional or amateur athletes, or for anyone seeking total relaxation.

A form of massage which utilises specific strokes and stretches to help obtain maximum performance and physical conditioning with less chance of injury or pain. It increases power, endurance, and flexibility both before and after an event or workout.

Sports massage is applied to athletes to help them train and perform free of pain and injuries. Massage therapists blend classic Swedish strokes with such methods as compression, pressure-point therapy, cross-fibre friction, joint mobilization, hydrotherapy and cryotherapy (ice massage) to meet.

Sports massage consists of specific components designed to reduce injuries, alleviate inflammation, and provide warm-up, etc. for amateur and professional athletes before, during, after, and within their training regimens.

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term.

Overall you do not have to be an athlete to have a sports massage as it can combat everyday stresses and injuries.

SWEDISH MASSAGE

Massage combined with a system of active and passive exercises for the muscles and joints.

Massage is the practice of soft tissue manipulation with physical, functional, and in some cases psychological purposes and goals. The word comes from the French massage "friction of kneading,  or from Arabic massa meaning "to touch, feel or handle" or from Latin massa meaning "mass, dough".

The term "Swedish massage" refers to the various techniques designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.

A European massage technique intended to relax muscles and improve circulation with the use of massage oils and gentle manipulations such as long strokes, kneading and tapping.

Manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, including skin, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia. Most often performed with oil. Also designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation

One of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body.

Swedish massage involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles.

This most common form of massage uses strokes, manipulations and movements to stimulate, relax or rehabilitate the body.

A form of bodywork that uses relaxing strokes to increase circulation of blood and lymph. It works the muscular mass by various operations: effleurages, kneadings, frictions and percussions.

Similar to the connective tissue massage, combining long stroking movements with circular ones. Complemented by kneading to loosen the deep muscle structure.

Swedish Massage is the technique of applying oil onto the skin and working it smoothly and slowly over the muscles. The amount of pressure used is determined by the client. You can choose a whole body massage or request work on just a specific area such as neck and shoulders.
